Twitter

What i really think about the writing space that Twitter offers is that it is not intelligent writing. It os a space to write what is happening in the moment or to tell jokes. It is a place to talk to people based on similarities. Twitter is more of a social network rather than a writing space.

Text on Clothing

I'm not sure why so many people wear texts on their clothing and on their skin. Perhaps they feel that such portable writing serves to speak out for what they believe in. For example, People get tattoos that mean something important to them and it is a good conversation starter. Also if there is writing on clothing it attracts people with similar tastes. For example, If a person is wearing a sort from their favorite band, other people who like that same band may say something. Or perhaps writing is unavoidable. For example, a person may buy a sweatshirt for its comfort, not for the fact that the companies name is on it.

The Problem of Describing Trees

There are some actions that are hard to describe with words. Some actions can only be described by showing them in a video or with pictures. This is the same with colors. How can one describe what the color blue looks like? Sure the author can use objects of that color as an example, but when a certain shade of blue is desired only a picture can do. For example, when Robert Hass pictures the trees dancing he has trouble putting all the motions he sees into words. He keeps correcting himself because words can't change the way videos can. Videos or pictures can show much more than words can describe.

Save

My four letter word is save. I find this word fascinating because my friend is a drug addict and many people think because of that she's worthless but she's not. i will probably use images that argue that even if you're addicted to something theres a way to turn your life around.

Girl: Daughter, Sister, niece, cousin, she, lady, miss
Boy: son, brother, nephew, cousin, he, lad, junior

can images do what words do?

Images can do much more than words can do. A picture is worth a thousand words. For example when people who are pro life are holding up signs against abortion, they mostly use pictures to persuade people to believe what they believe in. A picture of a mangled infant is going to affect a person more than an essay on the subject. It is also a quick an easy way to get their point across. (This in no way reflects my feeling on the subject of abortion.)

readability

Reading a good piece of literature is like watching the dance competition in the final scene in the film "Stomp the Yard". The work of literature must capture the readers attention just like how everyone was entertained and couldn't take their eyes off the dancers. Also the writer must get straight to the point and not be repetitive. Who wants to read the same thing multiple times? In the final scene of the film the dancer does a move he hasn't tried in a long time. surprise the reader every once and a while.
